1. Provider and scope

These terms cover your use of the sharepot app for iPhone, Apple Watch and Android, and of this website. Our privacy policy applies in addition.

For the iPhone and Apple Watch apps, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies in addition and prevails in case of conflict. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you.

2. What sharepot is – and is not

sharepot helps groups record shared expenses and work out who owes whom how much.

sharepot does not process payments. Bank transfer QR codes and links to PayPal, Revolut and other services are conveniences only. The payment itself happens strictly between you and your bank or payment service. We are not a payment provider, not an escrow service, and not a party to your group's settlement.

3. No account

Using sharepot requires no sign-up. Anyone who shares a pot online passes its contents to everyone holding the invitation link or code. Treat an invitation like a key and pass it only to people you trust.

4. Your content and your conduct

You are responsible for the data you enter – names, expense titles, notes and payment details in particular. Do not enter other people's personal data without their permission, and do not use sharepot for unlawful purposes.

We do not review the contents of shared pots. The calculations follow what was entered – we cannot vouch for the accuracy of the input.

5. Licence

You receive a simple, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use sharepot on devices you own or control. All rights in the app, its name and its design remain with us. Mandatory statutory rights are unaffected.

6. Free and Sharepot Pro

The basic scope is free: up to three pots, equal splitting, live sync, settling up and payments.

Sharepot Pro unlocks the extras: unlimited pots, uneven splitting, statistics, budget, recurring expenses, export as text/PDF/CSV, custom categories and sharing your own payment methods – on iPhone the receipt scanner as well. Pro is available as a yearly subscription with a free trial week, or as a one-time purchase.

The feature set may differ between iPhone and Android; the description in the respective store is what counts.

7. Purchase, renewal and cancellation

Purchases and subscriptions are concluded not with us but with Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). Their terms apply, they handle billing, and that is where you manage your subscription: on iPhone under Settings → your name → Subscriptions, on Android in the Play Store under profile picture → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions.

A yearly subscription renews automatically for another year unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. A trial week turns into the paid subscription unless you cancel first. Prices may vary by country.

8. Withdrawal and refunds

Because the purchase contract is with the store, withdrawal and refunds follow Apple's or Google's terms. File your request there: with Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com, with Google via your order history in the Play Store.

We can neither collect nor refund payments.

9. Availability and changes to the app

We aim for reliable operation but do not owe any particular availability of the live sync service. Local pots keep working without internet.

We may continue to develop the app, change features and discontinue individual ones. We will announce significant restrictions with reasonable notice.

10. Back up your data

sharepot is local-first. Switching devices without a backup, deleting a pot or uninstalling the app can remove data for good. Export important settlements as PDF or CSV in good time.

11. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For ordinary negligence we are liable only for breach of material contractual obligations, limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Liability is otherwise excluded.

In particular, we are not liable for disputes within your group, nor for payments you make on the basis of a settlement.

12. Termination

You can stop using sharepot at any time by deleting the app; cancel any running subscription in the store as well. We may block access to the live sync service if it is abused or if these terms are seriously breached.

13. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms where there is a legitimate reason – new features or a change in the law, for example. The current version, with its date, is on this page. Changes to your disadvantage apply to a running subscription only if you agree to them.

14. Governing law and dispute resolution

German law applies. Mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected. We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
